Bryan Brief Header
👋 Hey y'all, George here. Major Cut Shinnecock week. Y'all sent in a stack of great questions: what actually makes a Major Championship venue different, what it's like filming when every other creator is on course, and how Shinnecock stacks up against Oakmont. Running through all of it below. Plus a little World Cup detour because... it's been unreal.
P.S. Something pretty electric happened at Shinnecock. I won't spoil it. Well... I kinda did on the video title :D
👀 Major Cut Shinnecock
Shinnecock Sneak Peek
Big week. It's Major Cut Shinnecock. Inside the venue, filming alongside every other creator, with one electric moment about to drop. Strap in y'all.
🏌️ What actually makes a Major venue different
Real answer? A Major venue takes an already hard course and makes it harder. Firmer greens, faster greens, narrower fairways, thicker rough. Every tough thing about the course gets cranked up. Played Quail Hollow once when the rough was savage. Miss the fairway and you were hacking out. No chance at the green. Came back a few days after they cut all that rough down and it felt like a completely different golf course. Way easier. That's the whole difference. The setup is the entire story.
🎥 Filming alongside every other creator
Filming Alongside Every Other Creator
On Major weeks, every other creator is on course filming. A lot going on, but honestly? Not distracting at all. (Manager) Joe has done a great job getting us to start on hole one. Massive difference for the vibe. If we were starting on the 4th? Whole different feeling. And to be real, it's actually fun. You catch up with friends, swap stories, see creators you don't see often. Different energy than when it's just us. Not better, not worse, just more electric in the air.
🆚 Shinnecock vs Oakmont
Shinnecock vs Oakmont
This is the question I was most fired up to answer. Both are brutal in their own ways. Oakmont is an off-the-tee golf course. Miss the fairway and you're toast. The rough swallows you whole, zero chance to get to the green. Shinnecock is the opposite. Off the tee? Very forgiving for a major. But the second shots? Absolutely dicey. Firm and fast greens, wind whipping, miss in the wrong spot and you're done. An 18-hole bruiser where the approach shot defines you. Personally? I love this style of championship.
⚽ The World Cup is taking over
Quick detour. The World Cup has been electric. Locked in, watched a stack of games. The USA run has been wild and somehow we're now the new favorites to win the whole thing (... 😉). Buckle up if y'all haven't been watching.
The pushout fix 👀
Presented by V1 Sports
Pelli Pushout Fix

This week Pelli breaks down a fix for a Bryan Bros Discord member's swing 👀

The problem: the pushout.

  • Club rolls in / adjusts at the top
  • Comes down with a steep open clubface
  • Ball gets pushed right of where you're aiming

The fix: two simple tools.

  • A 3-foot cone, sitting roughly waist-high
  • A shaft down the target line, in line with the ball
  • Take it to the top, exaggerate back behind the cone with a closed clubface
  • Make your swing from that feel

When the ball starts where you're aiming, you know you're close to doing it right.

👉 Haven't submitted your swing yet?

That's it for this week's Bryan Brief.

Major Cut Shinnecock is one I'm going to remember for a long time. The course, the vibes, the moment that happened. Y'all aren't gonna want to sleep on this episode.
