Issue 14 - Poulter flipped the switch on us

👋 Hey y’all, George here. This week we finally teed it up with Ian Poulter… a match we’ve been trying to line up for years. Poults showed up exactly how you’d expect: full of stories, plenty of needle, and a competitive switch that flips fast.

We shot one video for our channel and one for his. Lots of travel, lots of filming, and thankfully our clubs kept moving thanks to ShipSticks.

The Poulter 180 🔄

When I was younger, Poulter always felt like the villain… loud outfits, huge swagger, the whole deal. Spending a day with him changed that fast. He was funny, relaxed, and way easier to be around than I ever expected!

On-Course Poulter Moments 🎤🔥

Poults wasted no time bringing the needle. On the first tee he dropped a bit of Ryder Cup smack that stung just enough to make us laugh.

Then came the mind games. Little comments, tiny pauses, looks that make you wonder if he is joking or trying to get in your head. Classic Poulter.

The best part was when Wesley told him he could go into Poulter mode if he wanted. Not even one hole later he made birdie, then rolled in a putt from way downtown. I told Wes he might have created a monster.

It was fun to watch him flip that switch in real time.

When Wes told him he could go into Poulter mode if he wanted… the switch flipped fast. One hole later he made birdie, then poured in a putt from way out. This graphic shows exactly how quickly he went from chill to full Ryder Cup Poults.

Week 14 – Get Rid of That Slice 💡

Week 14 – Straighten It Out

• This is one of Ben Pelley's go-to drills for players who show up with a slice.
• Grab an old shaft and place it on your target line, about mid-shin height.
• Set the ball roughly a foot inside the end of the shaft.
• Make swings without touching the shaft… if you can do that, you will start drawing the ball.
• It is simple, it works, and it fixes the number one miss Ben sees from new students.
