👋 Hey y’all, George here. So this just happened…

Screenshot of tweet That one definitely caught me off guard. This week’s Bryan Brief is more about mindset than mechanics. The advice that stuck, the moments that came down to one shot, and the reminders that what looks impressive does not always matter. Golf has a way of teaching you those lessons whether you ask for them or not.
P.S. Tip of the Week is near the end. It is simple, but it will change how you approach your next round.
⛳ When one shot changes everything
Q-School moment
One of the biggest moments of my career came down to one shot at Q-School. I was playing good golf, finished bogey bogey, and missed by one. A three putt on the 17th hole.

If I go par bogey or bogey par... I get through. Instead, I missed, and that moment quietly closed the door on my full time professional golf journey.
🏁 Losing the playoff, finding the right debut
Monday qualifier playoff
After Q-School, there was another moment that felt like it could change everything. I got into a PGA Tour Monday qualifier playoff with a real chance to make my first ever Tour start. Five guys, a couple spots, and everything on the line.

And the guy who knocked me out was... 🥁 Wesley 🥁. That one stung. But a few months later, I made my debut in Bermuda, and it felt like exactly the right place. Looking back, I would not trade that path. Sometimes what feels like another door closing is really just the game lining things up better.
🎯 Just have fun
Looking back on Bermuda, the best advice I ever got came from my dad, G3. When I am not playing good golf, I can forget to have fun, which is completely backwards. Golf is a game, and he always reminded me to treat it that way.

Do not wait to play well before you enjoy it. Have fun first. When I get that right, everything feels lighter and the game becomes what it is supposed to be.
🚫 One rule I would change instantly
Out of bounds
If the goal is to have more fun, the one rule I would change instantly is out of bounds. It feels too harsh for shots that are not actually that bad. Miss the fairway by a little, and suddenly you are re-teeing or hitting three.

I would rather see it treated like a lateral hazard. Take a drop where it crossed, keep the round moving, and let the punishment fit the miss. Golf is hard enough already.

During the off-season, we go live on Twitch several times a week. Golf, practice, games, and whatever else Wesley convinces me to do!

🎭 The full flop shot myth
Full flop shot
Hot Take the 'Flop Shot' looks incredible and is insanely hard to pull off. Open face... swing as hard as you can and if it works, you look like an absolute G.

But here is the truth -> you almost never need it. You are usually better off aiming middle of the green and two putting. It looks elite... but it rarely matters for scoring.
⏱️ Stop doing this immediately
One thing I see all the time is golfers taking too many practice swings. You rarely need more than one, and most people probably do not need any.

Extra swings slow the game down and lead to overthinking. Step up, trust what you have, and just hit the shot.
Tip of the Week – How to score better on par 3s 💡
Pelli Tip of the Week – Par 3 Scoring

Play par 3s off the middle of the green

  • Always get two numbers on par 3s: yardage to the flag and yardage to the middle of the green.
  • If the pin is front, play between middle and flag. If it is back, still favor the middle.
  • Aiming at the middle leads to more greens hit and fewer short-sided misses.
  • More greens on par 3s equals lower scores over time.

Another week of The Bryan Brief in the books ⛳️ This one was a little more mindset and lessons learned. Have fun first, respect how thin the margins are, and do not overcomplicate the game.
