![]() 👋 Hey y'all, George here. Writing this one with a mushy brain and tired legs. Three weeks into the UK trip, and I can finally say it: this is the best golf trip I've ever been on. We just wrapped a road trip through Royal Lytham, Royal Troon, Prestwick and Turnberry. Breaking down every stop below. And yes... I will just use Carhny's shots of Turnberry throughout the newsletter :D P.S. Major Cut St Andrews. We're filming it today and tomorrow. Get ready 👀 |
🇬🇧 The best golf trip I've ever been on ![]() Real talk. This is one of those trips you watch other people take, or hear about as a kid. And we're actually out here doing it. Seven rounds in eight days. All walking. I haven't walked this much golf since my four rounds at Q School two and a half years ago. Legs are toast, brain is mushy, and I wouldn't change a thing. And the golf? Honestly better than last year. Made some birdies, made some bogeys, made some doubles and triples. A fun range of expectations, put it that way. But the real win? Figuring out links golf, and enjoying it for what it is. It's a completely different game over here. |
⛳ Four courses, four completely different animals ![]() This is what blew me away. Every course has its own personality. Royal Lytham. A fun, traditional links sitting right in the town. Smaller property, but all class. The perfect first stop. Royal Troon. Big links right on the ocean. Then you hit the back nine... literally the hardest stretch of golf I've ever played. You're just holding on for your life. Prestwick. One of the most fun courses I've ever played in my life. The home of The Open. History everywhere, and every single hole is unique. Just incredible. Turnberry. Massive. Championship stuff from the first tee all the way to that 18th hole. Pure theater. |
🏘️ Being an English (and Scottish) guy for a few weeks ![]() The off-course stuff might be my favorite part. Staying in Troon and walking to little breakfast shops in the morning. A few nights in Lytham while the whole town had a festival going, fair and parade included. The restaurants in Birkdale. Taking the train around before the guys got here. The buildings, the architecture, the food. Back home we've got our normal things we're used to. Over here? We're just taking it all in and doing life the way they do it. One of the biggest highlights of the trip for me. |
🚨 Wes is teeing it up at The Open... on Monday ![]() Okay. The news. Y'all remember Wes missing final qualifying by ONE shot? Turns out that wasn't the end of the story. Months ago, Liam (our R&A guy) told us about a last-chance qualifier. Miss final qualifying by one, or lose in a playoff, and you get one more shot: a one-day shootout on Monday of Open week. And Wes is IN. So on Monday, with the whole squad on site, Wesley Bryan tees it up with a spot in The Open Championship on the line. Wes is officially part of major week at The Open. It's insane, and it's gonna be incredible. |
🎥 Major Cut St Andrews is happening RIGHT NOW ![]() One more thing before I go pass out. We're filming Major Cut St Andrews today and tomorrow. The Home of Golf. Three weeks of links golf in the legs, and now this. That's all I'm saying. Get ready. |
Fix your first move away 👀 Presented by V1 Sports ![]() This week Pelli breaks down a fix for Buzz's swing 👀 The problem: the first move away.
The fix: a Downshift mini board, set up on the diagonal.
Keep the pressure in that trail heel, and the first move away fixes itself. 👉 Haven't submitted your swing yet? |
That's it for this week's Bryan Brief. Seven rounds in eight days. Four courses I'll never forget. And somehow the biggest moment of the trip hasn't even happened yet. Monday. Wes. The Open. 👉 Does Wes get it done on Monday? Hit reply with your prediction. Believers get a shout-out next week. George |
