Welcome back to The Bryan Brief. Last week I was lucky enough to walk off Royal County Down with a win — this week I found myself in a very different setting: Edgebrook Golf Course in Chicago.
It’s thirteen bucks to play here. Thirteen. No range. Back tees off the mats. Gasoline carts that feel like they’ve been around since the railroad workers who built the place. And yet, there’s something about a course like this that makes golf feel the way it’s supposed to. You don’t need perfect turf or a grand clubhouse to have a memorable round. All you need is a track that makes you think, a couple friends to share it with, and maybe a canned Gatorade - right George? – Wesley |
Can We Break the Course Record?

This week we head to Edgebrook Golf Course in Chicago — $13 for 18 holes, mats for the back tees, and gasoline carts. No range, no excuses. Just pure golf.

Carney’s Rules Committee
The Rule: Ground Under Repair (GUR) only applies if the Committee (the group running the course or event) marks it, or if it’s clearly piled maintenance material. Otherwise, it’s play it as it lies.

At Edgebrook, Wesley’s ball was by an unmarked dirt pile. By the book: no free drop. But with Carney stepping in as acting Committee, the ruling went Wesley’s way.

George’s Yardages - Driver Change? 👀

This week on Twitch I tested the Titleist GT3 against the Callaway Rogue ST Max on my Foresight GC3. The GT3 gave me about a 5% edge across carry, speed, and spin — enough to keep it in the bag.

Why I love it: It’s forgiving even on mishits and keeps the flight consistent. Plus, testing it on my Foresight setup at home makes dialing in my game easy (and fun). |

The Bryan Bros Glossary
The Scotch-Irish
Wesley’s Scotch-Irish is the curveball when the textbook play won’t do—half recovery, half creativity, somehow pin-high.
Spot it: low runner, hooded face, bounce engaged.
“It’s not in the yardage book — it’s drawn in the dirt.” – Wesley

That’s a wrap from Edgebrook — $13 golf, course record watch,
and even a trip to Carney’s Rules Committee.
Next week we’ll be back with more shots, stories, and maybe even another entry in the Bryan Bros Glossary.
